1. What Merak is
Merak is a map-making application. You use it to create maps; the maps you make are yours. We provide the tool, not the content you produce with it.
2. Your maps and your rights
You keep full ownership and copyright of everything you create in Merak, including for commercial use where your plan permits it. We claim no licence over your maps beyond what is technically required to store them and show them back to you if you use cloud saving. We do not use your maps to train models, and we do not publish them without your explicit action.
3. Accounts and acceptable use
You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to it secure. Do not use Merak to infringe copyright, to host unlawful material, to attack or overload the service, to use cloud storage as a general file host, or to resell access to it. We may suspend accounts that do these things.
4. Paid plans, renewals and refunds
Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time and keep access to the end of the period already paid for. “Lifetime” means the lifetime of the product, not a guarantee of perpetual operation — see section 6. Storage quotas are stated on the pricing page and may be raised, but will not be reduced for an existing paying customer.
Refunds are covered in full on the refunds page: 14 days, on request, no reason needed. Statutory rights where you live come on top of that and are not affected by it.
5. Third-party data
Merak displays map data from third parties under their own licences, listed on the Licences page inside the app. Some of it comes from community tile servers with their own usage limits. Real-world geographic data is provided as-is and must not be relied on for navigation, engineering, legal boundary determination, or any safety-critical purpose.
6. Availability, changes and shutdown
We aim to keep Merak running but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and features may change. If we ever discontinue the service we will give at least 90 days’ notice and provide an export of your maps in an open format before access ends. Merak’s maps can always be saved to your own device, and we intend to keep it that way.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, Merak is provided “as is” and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
8. Privacy
We collect the minimum needed to run the service. The privacy notice sets out what that is, why, how long it is kept, and how to have it deleted.
