Who you are buying from
Merak is sold through Polar Software Inc., acting as our merchant of record. Polar is the seller of record for the transaction: it takes the payment, calculates and remits VAT, GST and US sales tax in your jurisdiction, and issues the invoice or receipt. Your card or bank statement will show Polar, not Merak.
Refunds are therefore processed by Polar back to the original payment method. We authorise them; Polar executes them. You do not need a Polar account to request one — email us and we will handle it.
Subscriptions — $6/month
Email us within 14 days of a charge and we will refund it in full. You may cancel at any time from the receipt Polar emailed you or by asking us; cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep access until the end of the period already paid for. We do not revoke access on cancellation — you have paid for that time.
Renewals are refundable within 14 days provided the account has not been used since the renewal date. After that, a renewal is a period you chose to keep.
Lifetime — $49.99 once
Refundable within 14 days of the order, provided you have not exported an unwatermarked map, relied on the commercial licence, or uploaded more than a token amount to cloud storage. Beyond that the product has been delivered in full and used, and the purchase is final.
What is not refundable
- Requests made more than 14 days after the charge.
- Accounts suspended for breaching the terms.
- Repeat requests from the same person or payment method. A refund corrects a mistake; it is not a way to use the product for free.
Before you buy
Every tool in Merak works on the free plan. Make the map you want to make first, so the only thing you are paying for is what the paid plan adds: your own art and fonts, custom land and water styles, unwatermarked exports above 2K, cloud storage and the commercial licence.
How to ask
Email merakmapmaker@gmail.com from the address on the account, quoting the order id from your Polar receipt. We reply within two working days. Once approved, Polar returns the money to the original payment method; how quickly it appears is up to your bank, typically 5–10 working days.
Taxes on a refund
Any VAT, GST or sales tax Polar collected is refunded with the purchase price. Tax is never retained on a refunded order.
Your statutory rights
Consumers in the UK and EU have a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase within 14 days. For digital content supplied immediately, that right ends once supply has begun with your express consent — which is what you agree to at checkout in order to get instant access. Nothing on this page removes a right you have by law, and this policy is offered in addition to those rights, not instead of them.
Chargebacks
Please ask us before raising a chargeback. A chargeback against a merchant of record is disputed by Polar rather than by us, takes months, and costs a fee whatever the outcome — on a one-person product that fee is meaningful. We would far rather simply refund you.
